Here is a golden opportunity for someone who knows fashion, loves fashion, has an acute fashion sense and loves to write about it, to achieve considerable local - as well as world wide - prominence as a fashion writer by sharing her passion with the fashionistas of our fair city, as well as with all the fashionable people around the world.
Don't believe it? The search for "fashion questions and anwers" on the Web and you'll find that we have 1st and 2nd place in Google, in Yahoo, in AOL, and 2nd and 3rd place in MSN. This is awesome exposure - something most web sites can only dream about.
The scene is set, the audience is waiting, and all we need is a local fashion fascionado to step into the spotlight, and let the drama of the world's fashion weave its beguiling alure through the lives and loves of our lovely ladies. |

"Women, The Mystery - The Shoes!"
Obsession seems such a strong word to use when discussing something so external - especially when that "something's" sole job is as simple as keeping ones foot covered - but when talking with other women before writing this column, that is exactly how they described their feelings about the quantity of shoes that they buy. It starts out as a love, but can quickly turn into an obsession.
| I have found that there is only a small percentage of women who are content with just a couple of pairs of shoes, most women, myself included, are out of control. It's hard to explain the feeling I get when walking into the shoe section of my favorite department store, at first it's like a mad rush to find something that I like. There are always thoughts that I will not hit upon anything at all, and then in the distance I see the pair that I must have and honestly, I get a euphoric feeling, and my excitement is hardly containable. |

Shoes are a source of joy for me, that special rush, that falling in love all over again feeling. We all have days that are stressful and to relieve that stress some people eat, some cry, others exercise. I shop for shoes. All kinds, from killer stilettos and strappy sandals to sleek sneakers and basic loafers. My mood can often be identified by the shoes that I wear, it can change from complacency to vast elation with just one simple purchase. With just one new colour I can speak in a whisper or a shout. |
The fact that shoes are not affected by weight gain is one of the more common reasons women make shoes an obsession. Sometimes when we go shopping we feel that nothing looks good on us, maybe we have gained a few pounds or for some reason or another we just think we look terrible in everything we put on our bodies, but then on your way out of the store you walk by the shoe department and once again that feeling sweeps over you and you think to yourself, maybe I don't look good in clothes today, but look at all those sexy shoes…and just like that, you're hooked.
| According to Harpers Bazaar the average woman has 30 pairs of shoes and women with shoe obsessions have 100 to 200+ pairs. My personal collection is up to around 70, so I guess that puts me in the middle of love and full blown obsession.

After researching shoe obsession a great deal on various sites on the internet and getting the opinions of both men and women, it is pretty clear that the opposite does not understand this shoe shopping craze, and the need that women feel for shoes. My only response to that is, why power tools? Why cars and electronics? Much research has shown that most women dress to impress other women, which to me indicates that men appear to be out of the loop about our fascination with shoes. |
| Shoes are a crucial part of the fashion statements we make. They are the ultimate accessory. They can change on outfit instantly. And who cares if they hurt? They make us feel womanly. I am not sure that any of us have the answers about our love affair with shoes. However, when we were little girls, I believe this obsession could have been deeply ingrained into our psyches forever. After all, Cinderella had glass slippers and the Wicked Witch wanted Dorothy's ruby red's from the minute she stepped into OZ. So, what more can I say? The obsession may remain just as it is forever, a mystery. |

For me personally, it's just a feeling that I get when I arch my foot to slip on those sexy high heels. And I figure since shoes are my sole obsession, that's not to bad, right?
Until next time,
