| Blooming well into October, the hardy asters are one of my all-time favourites for providing a wide range of rich colour in fall and late fall, and depending on kind, right up to frost. All are undemanding and provide mounds of rich colour in average soil, and are downright luxurious in fertile soil. Many are alpine natives and the dwarf kinds, as pictured here, are perfectly suited for rock gardens. |
