"woman"
"flesh blood and soul in equal measure
woman is the bridge vessel and gate
between eternal soul
and fleeting flesh
quietly creating
supremely sentient life
in our own image
out of inert matter
inside herself
to deliver it
ensouled and bloodied
and gasping for breath
into the joy and sorrow
laughter and tears
pain and ecstasy
of our world
in the eternal cycle
of life and death
and love and life"
mono print, 10" x 13", ink on paper

mono prints are imprints made by hand from ink on glass plates, and by the very nature of this process, exist therefore only as individually unique, one of a kind, versions. Hence the name 'mono print'. Traditionally, the several stages of print and overprint to arrive at the final form resulted in the pale colours hitherto typical of the medium. Weis' solid, brilliant color mono prints are a First in this medium. To achieve the rich brilliant colours typical of his passionately inspired work demands great conciseness of vision and sureness of execution, in a perfect union of artistic skill and profound creative expression. |
